In a fertile valley 17 kms south-west of Amman lies the Iraq al Amir cooperative, which supports thirty women who produce ceramics, textiles, soap, hand-made paper and greetings cards and which runs a guesthouse and café.

Shams Jordanie provides training, management and marketing skills to improve design and production quality of the handicraft workshops. The objective is to revitalize the co-operative's production and sales and to help attract eco-tourism to this charming traditional village.
Thanks to Shams Jordanie, English and French language classes and sewing lessons are provided for the village’s workers.
